Pershore Tennis Centre - Case Study
Unlocking Potential
How Zentano were the catalyst to growth and continued success
The Challenge
In October 2011, Head Coach Steve Bauer was experiencing frustrations on the progress he wanted to make in his coaching business. Steve has always brought passion, enthusiasm and energy to his life, but this was not having the desired effect on his business.
Having crossed paths with Dave Morris of Zentano it was agreed we would work together to find ways that would unlock Steve’s potential and take him and his business forwards.
Steve wanted to learn more about himself in order to unlock more of his potential, manage his well-being, improve his ability to delegate and plan effectively and to build effective relationships.
The Solution
Steve’s coaching focused initially on self-awareness, looking at his thinking preferences, his behavioural style and his ability to be emotionally intelligent and agile. He imbedded his learning with regular reflective learning journaling. He was also brave and sought other people’s opinions via a 360 Feedback exercise.
Steve then took the Whole Brain ™ Thinking model to create a Strategic Plan to grow his coaching business for his and the Tennis Centres benefit.
Coaching continued for a total of 11 months until Steve felt he had the knowledge, skills and toolkit to be self-sufficient in order to make his aspirations and goals become reality.
Steve commented: “Dave’s professionalism and patience has meant that over a period of time I have acquired tools and skills which have and will continue to move me forwards in business and life."

The Result
In the last 3 years Steve has assembled a high-quality coaching team (including an ex-WTA tour professional) that is the envy of all clubs in the county. His coaching of the clubs Men’s Teams has helped them achieve a total of 15 promotions in 6 years.
He has built relationships with key stakeholders at the club and has become instrumental in helping Pershore Tennis Centre be voted South Warwickshire Summer League Club of the Year in 2016.
In 2017, Steve was voted Coach of the Year at the Hereford & Worcester LTA annual awards ceremony. This award was in part for his work coaching a Downs Syndrome group and a Wheelchair Tennis group. In 2018 Steve retained this title and helped Pershore Tennis Centre be awarded the prestigious title of Club of the Year.
Steve said: “The coaching has had a strong impact on my ability to understand myself. It has helped me self-reflect on a consistent basis. As a result of this I am more able to focus on the direction I want my business to go in and other areas of my life. Having the tools to provide clarity of thought means I have been able to make good decisions that benefit all involved in my business”.
