Coaching for senior leaders
How Zentano helped the leadership team at Mitie communicate more effectively.
Gary Hollywell, Operations Director at Mitie National Mobile Services, approached Zentano to do some work with his team. Gary said; “The communication needed working on within the Management Teams who had different behavioural styles – bottom line was that we needed to work closer together.”
Gary’s management team found self-awareness a challenge. This was needed though to try and get the team working closer together and to have a better understanding of the skills and strengths that the other individuals in the team could bring.
Gary commented; “Ensuring that people understood the skills others could bring and to utilise this in the day-to-day environment was essential if Mitie NMS was to reach its performance targets.”
The work Zentano did with the management team initially included individual coaching using behavioural and emotional intelligence profiling tools so that they could understand their personal strengths and “blind spots”. Zentano also helped the team understand Whole Brain ™ Thinking preferences and how these impacted on communication in the team. This was all brought together in an information sharing and team bonding day in Birmingham.
Gary observed; ‘During this time I was also part of the senior management team. The MD engaged Dave to do some facilitating for the senior team which would bring them together to work closer and more efficiently. He did a few sessions with us to help facilitate some progressive meetings and to look at strategy and the team dynamic.”
Gary commented “The quality of the coaching Dave provided was excellent in every respect. Certainly, within the team profiling the feedback on that from my managers was excellent in terms of the quality of the assessment and also on his personal interaction with them.

“Dave has tremendous listening skills and he is a very easy guy to get on with. He is incredibly professional, and the key element was giving. I had a team of six and Dave managed to engage every one of them without any barriers and often when you are engaging or coaching people using profiling, people are very nervous. Dave’s skills and ability to communicate put that to rest immediately.”
“Personally, I’ve taken a lot from my profiling experience with Dave – I challenge things with him from time to time and we meet up regularly to have a catch up.
